jBASE 3.4 for All 32bit Windows Development 98/ME/NT/2000

This page explains how to obtain a free version of jBASE 3.4 for Windows.

Please note that there are some user restrictions on this version of jBASE Windows:

Restricted to 1 user
The Developers license expires on January 31, 2002. A license update will be posted to this web page before that time.
It cannot be used commercially or in a live environment. It is intended as a development and testing platform and live applications may not be deployed.

Before downloading you will need to read and accept the license agreement, by downloading the software you accept the license agreement in full and agree to abide by it's rules.

Before doing anything you should read the jBASE Installation Advisory page then print it for further reference. Please read the documentation before reporting installation problems. Also see the FAQ for jBASE on Windows. Users upgrading from an earlier version of jBASE should read the release notes.

With this release, support is withdrawn for all previous version of jBASE on Windows, other than for those customers that purchased commercial licenses.

Visual C++ Compiler

When you compile a Basic program with jBASE, it is converted to C++. The C++ code is then compiled to machine code. For this, we use the Microsoft Visual C++ compiler. You should purchase version 6.0. Microsoft publishes 3 editions of Visual C++ 6.0. These are the Standard Edition, Professional Edition and the Enterprise Edition. Any of these can be used with jBASE. For jBASE 3.2 and later, you must use Visual C++ 6.0.
