A
Guide to Understanding jBASE
This document is intended to assist new users in configuring a jBASE
installation on the Windows platform (NT, NT workstation, 2000
Professional/Server and XP Professional). Because of the openness of jBASE,
this document is not a step by step guide; rather, it is an explanation of how
jBASE works, which will give the user the necessary information to implement
jBASE in a way that is compatible with their software.

Advanced Programmer's Reference Manual
This manual contains additional information that programmers might need, such as
the jEDI API and writing database drivers, makefiles, migration, C programming,
user exits, and extending ICONV and OCONV, profiling and more. This document
contains a great deal of information which advanced programmers might find
useful, but is not required for most programmers.

Getting
Ready to Migrate: Software
This Short
Topic presentation discusses software migration considerations apart from your
legacy application code. For example, setting up users, environment variables,
and custom interface or add-on software. Legacy assembler code will need to be
re-written. B-Tree use may need to be revised. Subroutines used in dictionaries
may need attention.

Getting Ready to
Migrate: Hardware
Will you
use your existing hardware or upgrade your server? Do you need new drivers for
your printers? Will all of your existing printers be required in the same
configuration as your legacy environment? Are there other peripheral devices
that will need special attention? This is the subject of this Short Topic.
