jBASE has provided the ability to access
Progress files, in real time, from a jBASE application as if they were native jBASE
files, allowing jBASE and Progress to coexist and cooperate.
Any application written
using any tool of the jBASE product suite, e.g. jBASIC, Java or COM OBjEX, can
access other data stores as if they were native jBASE files with no change of
application code.
Who is using the jEDI
capability with Progress?

Alcan Fibrenyle has
been live in production for over a year.
They
had a Warehouse Management System with a Progress Database and an
Engineering Resource Planning system, which had been converted to jBASE a
while ago, and the two needed to communicate together. The jEDI
development kit was used to set up the driver and the relevant files - after
which time the two systems were free to communicate with each other via
ODBC.
