As it stands, the application is only capable of opening a record, which isn't particularly useful in itself. More buttons need to be added to enable users of the application to add new records, save any changes and delete records.
Click on the Button icon in the Palette Pane. Then click on the Construction Rivet to the right of the Open button. Another button should appear in the Table next to the Open Button and the Properties Pane should show the Properties of the new button. Change the caption to New, the Button type to Submit, the trigger type to Sub, and the trigger option to "sysfilenew". Click the Update button to apply the changes.
Click on the Button icon in the Palette Pane again, but this time click on the Construction Rivet in the next cell along from the Open and New buttons. Change the Caption property to Save, the button type to Submit, the Trigger type to Sub, and the Trigger option to "sysfilesave". Click Update to apply the changes.
Add one last button in the same cell as the Save button. Change the Caption Property to Delete, the button type to Submit, the Trigger type to Sub, the Trigger option to "sysfiledel" and the trigger parameter to "skip". Click Update to apply the changes.
The Table should now look something like this, and should now give the user the ability to add new records, save any changes that have been made, and delete any records that they no longer need.
Preview the Page and try out each of the buttons. Click the New button first, enter a new record and click on the Save button. Enter 1 in the Employee number field, and click the Open button. The original record should appear. Change this record and click on the Save button. Delete one of the records by Clicking on the Delete button.
The application is nearing completion. There are the multi-valued fields in the ADDRESS file which the application doesn't handle yet, and a lookup facility for Employees would be useful.
